Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to carry out and complete gas transmission pipeline construction work activities in accordance with relevant legislation, industry standards, codes of practice and environmental, safety and workplace procedures.It includes working in a gas transmission construction environment, using the correct tools and equipment to conduct the activities and completing workplace documentation. Pipeline construction work may include slinging, welding, trenching, shoring, hydro testing, pipeline coating and coating testing, cathodic protection components and directional drilling.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Element: Prepare to carry out transmission pipeline construction work activities
  • Work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) workplace procedures and environmental measures for the site are identified and applied
       
Element: Job requirements and workplace procedures for the site are obtained and discussed with relevant person/s to confirm the work schedule
       
Element: WHS/OHS, environmental and sustainable energy policies and procedures are obtained and applied in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and control measures prioritised, implemented and monitored in accordance with workplace procedures

Assessment Tasks
